All cleaned up

Well I cleaned up my new find (more pictures to come). I am thinking about painting it and striping on it as one of my first projects. I also have a 1962 Barbers Chair that I thought about painting in the same scheme just cause you know everything has to match. On the right hand side I am going to put a poll to see what color you all think I should paint it. Well off for now

My new addition

Well I said earlier that I had sighted a Wheel Balancer that I think would work for striping. Well today I stopped over at the shop that it was at (Welches Auto Repair Markle,IN) and the owner GAVE IT TO ME! I cannot wait to e-mail the artist who uses one of these to do rims and hopefully I can get some specifics on how to make my own. Otherwise it's off to Dad's house to hopefully figure it out.

Something good and bad

The Bad:
Well my 2nd book has yet to arrive. Although it says on Amazon that it should be here today it is not.

The Good:
It appears that I may get to see a pinstriper doing his thing at a Body Shop in Markle. So cross your fingers. Hopefully I am able to ask some questions while I'm at it.

I had a spotting two nights ago

While I was driving around the other day and spotted an old wheel balancer. In one of my books (Pinstriping Masters 2) Kieth Knecht talks about and shows how he uses an old wheel balancer to do pinstriping on wheels. Hopefully they have no use for it and are wiling to cough it up for cheap. Although I have not really started the learning process totally I think a cheap purchase of something like this would be an excellent start so I have the equipment when I am ready for it.

Pinstriping Video

Here is a neat real time video of Shane Syx pinstriping. If by the way that I read the description this was filmed at the show in Huntington but I may be wrong.

With so much talent in one book I'm not sure I will even be close to these guys any time soon, but it will be fun trying!

New Books

Well I ordered some books about pinstriping that also have a lot of how-to within them. Amazon said that they should be at my door by the 11th of May but hopefully they are there sooner. Here is what I ordered:

Soon there after I recieve them I hope to post my preliminary reviews.

Storage of brushes

Well since I have these new cool looking brushes I have found a cool photo of how a "professional" pinstriper stores their brushes.

First real purchase

Well I went and picked up my Mack brushes from O'Reilly Auto Parts today. I got a great deal on it, they are normally $13 or so dollars and O'Reilly had them for around $6.50. While I was in the mood to spend some dough we also went over to Wal-Mart to grab some Mineral Spirits, a pane of Glass (to practice on), and some tape.

I am still looking and researching for the best style of paint, but I'm guessing that I will have to wait for the 11th when my books come in. More later about the books.
